The Project
Project Description: 319 Apartments across 3 blocks served with a basement carpark.
System Details: BS9251:2014 Cat 2 system, coverage to apartments only, system fed via a dedicated pump and tank.
Client Issues
Within the apartments, the client faced significant limitations with service void space due to the installation of a large ducting system. This constraint directly impacted the sprinkler layout, as we were unable to position heads in their originally intended locations.
The Solution
During the design stage, we identified a conflict between the sprinkler system and the ductwork that would have required lowering the ceiling height. To address this, we proposed and implemented the use of side wall sprinkler heads in the affected areas. This solution allowed us to avoid the ductwork while maintaining the original ceiling heights, ensuring both compliance and client satisfaction.
